Liz Earle Strengthening Nail Colour Review

Tuesday, 21 January 2014

Hi everyone and welcome back to another review :)

Today I will be reviewing the Liz Earle Strengthening Nail Colour.

Now Liz Earle is known for their award winning cleanse and polish facial cleanser along with their toner and moisturiser, which I am a massive fan of.

They have 12 colours in their range of polishes from nudes to dark blues/browns.

On their website (and their packaging) it says the following about it's polish:

"Our fortifying, chip-resistant formula glides on to deliver a glossy coat of even colour that lasts for up to 12 days. Enriched with avocado and borage oils, our nail colour is easy to apply and helps to strengthen and protect nails during wear. Free from toluene."

Ok so far so good, the colours I got were 08 Knockout Red and 13 Golden Celebration (which was a limited edition) the polishes retail for £7.50 each for 12ml, I personally off the bat wouldn't buy nail polish for that price but it came free with a special offer set when I brought the skin care set.

The first thing I noticed was how lovely the colours were and the packaging is amazing! It's so pretty, I am not sure if you can see but the lid has little glittery particles on it so far big thumbs up for the look of the product.

Just a note before I start the review of the actual product, I didn't use top or bottom coat so it could be a more fair review.

When I opened it to look at the actually polish itself it did appear a little runny for my liking but I looked passed it and tried it on, it says to put on two coats of polish which I did and one thing I noticed straight away was that you do not need to use a lot of this to get a nice coat, yes the product was a little runny, however the colour is opaque enough to make up for it so you use less and therefore save product. Neither of the colours go on streaky they go on smoothly and even.

After letting the first coat dry properly, which didn't take too long about 5-10 mins, I applied another coat which made the polish look even better, it still went on smooth and even and non streaky - love it!

So here goes the testing...about one week and a half later so around 10 days my nails looked this like:

(No I am NOT joking)

Now don't start thinking I tried to keep them looking pretty err...nah! through this time my bathroom started leaking and I had to keep emptying the bucket that was catching the leak and it was in an awkward place so plenty of places and chances for my nail to catch on something, not including washing my hair and just having my hands in water quite a lot which makes the polish chip or peel off - not cool - but this didn't happen, as you can see it only started fading a bit at the edges and at the bottom where my nail grew but nothing major. My nail was stronger and didn't chip or feel weak or start peeling.

So to summarise, I fully recommend this polish! For the price it gives a good coverage, it basically does what it says on the tin so I wouldn't actually mind paying the price.

I can't say if the other colours do a similar job, with other polishes I found that different colours go on or cover differently but I would like to try some others to see if the quality go across the whole range.

Overall I am impressed and I give a huge applause to Liz Earle, and I would LOVE to try some of their make up and hair care products to see if the quality goes across the whole brand because so far I am impressed. Two big thumbs up to you! :D

Boxing Day Haul Part 2

Thursday, 16 January 2014

So here is part two of my haul as promised I hope you see something you would like to try or something that inspires you. Don't forget to drop a comment below :D.

I got this chain from New Look as they were doing half price for boxing day, this is from the roam collection that they sell there.

I saw these rings in New Look, also on half price but from the reborn collection I think it's called. I thought these rings looked so royal and regal - love them.

I picked up these at Superdrug on a 3 for 2 offer, I picked these to do reviews, which I haven't got round to yet, the lip colours are by Rimmel and the nail polish is by Collection 2000.

I got these in the HMV sale, great movies can't wait to watch them

I found this maxi skirt in New Look on sale, I can't remember how much but it was definitely under £10, beautiful!

This bag is the biggest bargain ever! I got it from Zara for £30 I LOVE IT, it is so spacious inside you can fit so much in (which can be a bad thing as well lol)

Finally I got these earrings from Lola & Grace, I love this jewellers, they are amazing and were having 50% on everything!! I picked these beauties up for just £10.

Thank you for reading, take care and stay inspired :) Jo xo

Boxing Day Haul Part 1

Tuesday, 14 January 2014

Hello again everyone, I know this is a LATE post and boxing day was ages ago but this post is just to share with you some of the things I picked up in the boxing day sales and what I thought of them, it is spilt into two as I went on two different days, don't mind my shots of some of the items i'm still trying to sort out the best way to photograph clothes items, enjoy :)

I got these bed sheets from Primark for about just over £10 (not including the flat sheet) I fell in love with them as soon as I saw it as it just looks so chic and feminine, if you want to see a pic of the covers on my actual bed you can check my Instagram :)

So I stocked up on these pen eye liners from Primark, yes Primark only at £1.50 each they are actually really good lol my go to eye liner! I am not too good at the whole liquid eye liner thing but these are easy to use, last ages and it doesn't smudge - what else can you ask for?! I recommend highly. I also picked up the large stud earrings for £1.50 - so beautiful!

Again this pillow is from Primark Home section (I had Primark gift cards which is why a lot of this stuff is from there). I think it's such a unique looking piece, very individual and it has a vintage feel too :) I used it as a decorative piece on my bed, this cost about £5.

Now you can't actually see, but you will when I wear it, this is a cropped jumper, but I got it a few sizes bigger so it can be a bit baggy, I got this for around £5.

I grabbed this bargain in boots, they had some AMAZING perfume set deals on boxing day I was amazed! They had another Juicy perfume set worth £60 for £30! I got this one - which in fact had no price so when it went through at £17.99 I had to get it as a treat for myself ;)

Since I started breaking out I wanted to purchase natural make up for my face, I have used bare minerals before so I wanted to get it again - I can't remember the price of these but they were regular retail price from the bare minerals counter in boots.

I love, love, LOVE this movie and for £3 in Primark yes I was going to pick up it!

Again another really bad pic however, I was searching everywhere in Primark for black jeans in my size and i couldn't find but as I was in the line I was these and grabbed them lol and these are any ordinary denim jeans they sort of have the texture of leggings but they are jeans, they are super comfy and go with everything I love them so much! I can't remember how much they were maybe around £10.

We visit Primark home for another time with this amazing 3 wick tin candle, I don't know if it's just me but in the UK I don't see 3 wick candles much, this one smells amazing! I think it was about £3 I got one for myself and my friend, the tin it really pretty too!

Finally I picked up these gloves again in Primark for £5 and they are really warm - recommended buy...Primark are stepping up lol.

So I hope you enjoyed this post, I have another haul coming up with more goodies. If you saw anything you liked or have or something you saw here that you tried/got let me know in the comments below and your thoughts :).

Until next time, take care, Jo xo

My Skincare Regime + Extra Goodies!

Thursday, 9 January 2014

Hi everyone, it's been a while I hope you all had a fab Christmas! :)
I didn't get anything for Christmas except a few gift cards but I did go boxing day shopping, I will be doing a couple of haul posts following this to share what I got with you all.

In the meantime I would like to share with you what I started using to wash my face daily.

I recently was using the Nivea daily essentials cleanser, toner and moisturiser, however, unfortunately, this started breaking me out badly, I started getting spots like crazy and mini rashes on my face (this was for my skin) so I decided to invest in a skin care line that I before cleared my skin up beautifully, I say invest as it is more of a high end range.

This is how it came to me, I loved the way they packaged it and the lovely letter they sent with it, this was already a big plus.

I use the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish with the hot muslin cloth (not in picture), Liz Earle instant boost toner and the Liz Earle skin repair light moisturiser for combination/oily skin.

I absolutely LOVE this regime, not only are the products all natural but they smell AMAZING I actually forgot how good this was for my skin and how much I loved it.

They also do body washes and they started doing make up, I purchased these items as a part of a Christmas offer which also included the following items:

I tried out the nail polish so keep checking back for a review post on them ;)

As for the cleanser, toner and moisturiser - I am two weeks into clearing my skin from my breakouts and since I began to use the Liz Earle regime I have not had any new breakouts and my skin is beginning to clear and is doing better then ever! I fully recommend these products.

Check out their site here! They also sell their products on QVC.

If you buy any of their products I would love to see your feedback.

Take care until next time - Jo xo
